How does phone number validation work?
This tool uses Google's libphonenumber ruleset — the same library that powers Android — to parse and validate numbers against country-specific rules. It checks length, prefix, and number allocation to determine whether a number could be assigned. Results run entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
What does "valid" mean?
A valid number matches the exact length and prefix rules for its country. A "possible" but invalid number has the right length but an unallocated prefix. Number type (mobile, fixed-line, VoIP, toll-free) is best-effort and depends on published carrier data.
Need to actually receive an SMS?
Validation only tells you if a number is well-formed. To verify that a number can receive SMS in real time, use SMSVerifyo virtual numbers — rent temporary numbers in 180+ countries and receive verification codes instantly.
